Polly Staniford is a Melbourne based producer, writer and director. Inspired and influenced by a diverse collection of films and their makers, she is a big fan of European and social realist cinema, as well as main stream contemporary films (particularly drama and rom-coms). Her favourite filmmakers include Lynne Ramsey, Andrea Arnold, David Fincher, Ken Loach, Woody Allen, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Martin Scorcese, the Coen Brothers, Ang Lee and the Dardenne Brothers.

Prior to setting up Aquarius Films, Polly spent nearly 3 years working at Matchbox Pictures where she worked on a number of film and television projects with award-winning producers Tony Ayres and Michael McMahon. Whilst working with Matchbox Pictures, Polly also produced 4 documentaries for the ABC including the highly acclaimed ANATOMY series and MISS SOUTH SUDAN AUSTRALIA.

Polly has worked in many areas of the film and television industry for a number of companies including Fremantle Media and Inside Film. She is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts School of Film & TV in Melbourne and the Berlin Talent Campus.

Polly has always loved kid’s adventure films from the 80's such as The Goonies, Labyrinth, Willow and Legend and recently completed her own kids feature film screenplay, Katie Diamond which she co-wrote with her father Mike. She is currently in development on a number of different film and television projects both as a producer and as a writer/ director.
