about angie

Angie Fielder is a creative producer based in Sydney. Deeply inspired by the non-conformist cinema of the 60s and 70s Angie is a fan of early works by Stanley Kubrick, Dennis Hopper, D. A. Pennebaker and Martin Scorsese. In contemporary cinema she is drawn to the less conventional approaches of Mike Leigh, Todd Solondz, Michael Hanneke, Alejandro González Iñárritu and Michael Winterbottom. Angie also has an affection for Danish cinema, particularly the work of Suzanne Bier and Anders Thomas Jensen, as well as left-of-centre US fare from directors such as P.T Anderson, Wes Anderson, Jason Reitman and Sophia Coppola.

Prior to setting up Aquarius Films Angie worked in many areas of the film industry for a number of companies including Porchlight Films, Inside Film, the Sydney Film Festival and the British Film Institute. She has trained under acclaimed producers Liz Watts, Vincent Sheehan and Andy Paterson on their films Animal Kingdom, Prime Mover and Burning Man respectively.

All of Angie's short films have screened at the Sundance Film Festival, and other festival screenings of her films include Venice, Berlinale, Edinburgh, Telluride and London. In 2011 she produced her first feature film Wish You Were Here, written by Felicity Price and Kieran Darcy-Smith, and directed by Kieran Darcy-Smith.

Angie currently has numerous projects in development, including Kieran Darcy-Smith's next film Memorial Day, which veteran US indie producer Ted Hope will executive produce. She is a graduate of the Griffith Film School.
